Season 1: And So We Dream of Spring

The proceeding text has been gifted to those who seek to stand on ceremonies not so holy.

To be more direct. You have all expressed interest in tabletop games in some form. To help us (that is to say myself) I have gathered and tallied up your gaming interests.

Our group's gaming interests are unsurprisingly mixed. Some of you expressed greater interest in role-playing while others preferred a more fixed board game experience -- and some of you want it all or a particular blend of both.

Fair enough.

As far as game times are concerned most of us seem to be in agreement. The majority of us prefer Saturdays from midday to the evening and Friday evenings. Additionally, Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday showed some limited interest or availability.

As a result, be prepared for Friday and Saturday dates. I will do my best to match specific game interests and to ensure that player-game-times synchronize accordingly.

Contact me by text to sign up for any of the Season 1 options. Once a game fills up, I will set up a time to conduct the ceremonious festivities.

Do not worry about whether or not you have your own components, miniatures, etc. No matter the game, all gaming pieces needed to play are provided (not that you cannot bring your own dice, miniatures, etc.) -- just bring good sportsmanship, a love for storytelling, and a "let's have fun" attitude. Also, do not feel like you have to know how to play a game to join us for the fun -- we will help you or figure it out together. :)

The sooner we fill up the slots for a particular game; the sooner we set a time.

SECTION 2: Get to the point!

To reiterate, review the list of available games from the list below and then, via text message, send me a list of the games in which you would like to participate.

Here are the Season 1 options (further descriptions below):

1. Aliens RPG: A 1-2 session scenario

2. Dungeons and Dragons: Curse of Strahd

3. Dungeons and Dragons: Hallow Conquest

4. Game of Thrones Board Game

5. Rangers of Shadow Deep Campaign

6. Global War 1936

7. Star Wars Imperial Assault cooperative campaign with end of campaign competitive tournament (tournament is open to all -- including those who did not play in the campaign)

8. Marvel Crisis Protocol

What Are These Games?

1. Aliens RPG: A 1-2 session scenario

In space, no one can hear you scream. The cinematic play scenarios are designed to be played in one game session that emphasizes high stakes and brutality. Few will survive -- if any.

At Gen Con, the Alien RPG won the 2020 ENNIE Award for Best Game, and its publisher, Free League, was named Fan Favorite Publisher.

The RPG captures the horror that lurks within the ego of all who wish to survive.

2. Dungeons and Dragons: Curse of Strahd

Join a story-weaver and Dungeon Master who may have read a Gothic book or two in graduate school and journey to the dangerous realms of Ravenloft where Count Strahd von Zaravich, vampire and necromancer, resides. Created by Tracy Hickman (yeah, Dragonlance), Strahd has become one of the most iconic villains of modern pop culture and surely one of the most feared (and even revered) by Dungeons and Dragons parties across the world.

3. Dungeons and Dragons: Hallow Conquest

Join a grim-dark low fantasy Dungeons and Dragons adventure run by an award-winning writer of works you have never read.

Welcome to The Hallows. Your home is welcoming to all who accept Andgrel as their God of gods. Houses stand close together -- it is a community -- kids play, the smell of warm bread rides the coastal winds, and the town is full of chatty anticipation for the Andgrel's Day festivities. But there is work that needs to be done before haggling with traveling merchants, competing in the annual archery and battle royale contests, or performing a public read of your latest poetry.

Nevertheless, there's no denying that this year is different, for nobles from near and far have gathered to vie for Seena's hand in marriage; they call her "Princess" even though she is no such thing. But who cares? There is more to life than dance and romance. Opportunity abounds -- deals, jobs, games, and more await you. Or perhaps you'll go investigate that mysterious rhythmic gust outside of town, undertake a trip to the local cemetery where unusual offerings have appeared, or eavesdrop on the latest news from the docks as rumors swirl of monstrous raiding parties.

4. Game of Thrones Board Game

Players take on the roles of the great Houses of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros and vie for control of the Iron Throne. Test your strategic planning and diplomatic mastery while spreading your influence far and wide. This nominee for two Dice Tower Gaming Awards will test your fortitude and wit -- live or die, please, do not flip over the gaming board when it happens. :)

5. Rangers of Shadow Deep Campaign

Become a commissioned ranger of the state in a cooperative miniatures game experience that allows players to create a character, level up, and work together to overcome the challenges of Alladore. House rules allow you to create characters using Dungeons and Dragons races and classes. Cooperative (Rangers) and competitive (Frostgrave) game experiences are available.

6. Global War 1936

A personal weekend favorite. Reimagine the events of World War 2 in a truly global conflict that is played out on a massive 8x4 board. In an asymmetric struggle, Axis, Allied, and Comintern players vie for victory objectives while developing cutting-edge technology, spying on rival nations, establishing diplomatic relations with minor powers, and maybe even building the atom bomb.

While the game features a brand new map, which adds clarity to territories and regions, we took it many steps further -- for the past three months of playtesting, we have spent time painting, magnetizing,  and creating components to add to the ease of gameplay. Color-coded units and tokens make it easy to identify ship, vehicle, and infantry classes, magnets allow planes to stick to aircraft carriers and metal flight stands, which combine to reduce fiddly-bits, and partitioned army boxes make it easier than ever to play Global War.

7. Star Wars Imperial Assault cooperative campaign with end of campaign competitive tournament (tournament is open to all -- including those who did not play in the campaign)

A household classic returns to the tabletop. The game provides a cooperative narrative led by an on-screen app. Each player takes control of a unique hero. Along the way you will level up your character, fight alongside friends, and maybe even save the galaxy in this RPG-lite experience in a galaxy far, far away.

Additionally, the game supports competitive draft play where players build a team of heroes, squads, creatures, and vehicles to compete for objectives and victory points in a fast-paced tournament.

8. Marvel Crisis Protocol

Marvel superheroes and supervillains collide in skirmish and event-based confrontations. A unique objective system provides players with difficult decisions and new ways to win every time you play. The doubly unique event system allows players to go against a rampaging Hulk or an Age of Ultron.

Become the hero you already pretend to be every day. ;)
